The Housing Stability factor examines home ownership rates and the percentage of aging adults that wish to remain in their current residence and are confident that they will be able to do so.

Approximately 19% of households (30,685) in Forsyth County house one adult 60 years or older.

Approximately 12% of households (18,480) in Forsyth County house two or more adults 60 years or older.
40% of aging adults have lived in Forsyth County for 50 years or more. When we look at the data by age, race, and income, we see significantly higher percentages of adults aged 75 or older, African Americans, and mid and low- income aging adults living in Forsyth County for 50 years or more.
20% of aging adults rent their homes. When we look at the data by gender, race, and income, we see significantly higher percentages of aging adult females, African Americans, and mid and low-income groups renting.
Generally aging adults would like to stay in their home for as long as possible and are confident that they will be able to afford to do so.
